Internal Swift Nest Systems

Internal Swift nests are a permanent solution, offering them a safe space for life. Having the boxes in the loft makes them maintenance free, easier to install cameras and safer to investigate the boxes after their departure. Brick slips installed in the wall also have a high chance of being taken up by Swifts and in many places imitate their natural preference for nest sites.

 

In our own home in 2022, we installed 10 internal nest boxes in the loft complete with a camera system to monitor progress. In the following June, two pairs took up residence and built their nests ready for 2023.

In 2023, both pairs returned and raised three chicks between them.

It was an absolute joy to host these beautiful birds and watch their development. Installing an internal system could be easier and cheaper than you think. Check out the video below to learn more about how we undertook this project.
